I did some DD a while back. I think moly price is related to energy prices. the deeper you drill the more moly you need in the drill rod. the more corrosive (sea bed?) the more moly. the more pipelines the more moly. the more refineries the more moly as a catalyst. the more sour the oil the more moly to prevent corrosion in the plant and as a catalyst. convert coal to oil in SASOL process you need moly for catalyst. the more coal and oil you burn the more corrosive the atmosphere (acid rain) therefore the more moly you need.
