I'll believe it when I see it.

What this piece does not go into is the viability of an Apple Store franchise. I have written about this before, so I'll be brief.

Apple, as a franchisor could control the quality of the showcase without risking a great deal of capital. A concept store would not compete directly with Sears and CompUSA. Done properly, the increased exposure would broaden market share, decreasing the likelihood that the retailers would drop the line.

It would be a good move for Apple in middle America where people prefer to touch and feel the product before anteing up.
