Tim, assuming that your position is logical, and indeed a fetus is "alive", you must have a concept as to when that life started,

A fetus is alive for its entire existance as a fetus. A zygote is alive and when it become a fetus it reamins alive.
Sperm and unfertilized egg cells are alive, but they are not
a seperate human life.

The next question would be can other rational being chose differently than you have?

Rational people can have different opinions but if I see their opinions as leading them to kill innocent unborn children then I must oppose them.

Last, I do not appreciate you terming my holy bible teachings "ridiculous", these teaching have served many for thousands of years. I promise not to term your "opinion" on when life start ridiculous either.

I rarely call other people's opinions ridculous. But

1 - You stated - "but calling it "killing" is nothing short of ridiculous, since you cannot kill something which is not alive."

and

2 - I truely do believe the position that the fetus is not alive to be ridiculous. It is alive. It can be killed. The position that it does not qualify for human rights I would call wrong but I would not call ridiculous.
