To me, it seems that either Apple is abandoning the high end or just can't get it together with Motorola/IBM. Maybe casual web surfers sitting behind iMacs are where the $$$ is, I don't know.

I'm sure Apple knows which side of the bread their butter lays on. Why else would Jobs say "the content and publishing market" over and over and over again?

So the problem here lies squarely in Motorola and IBM's court, perhaps compounded by Apple's decision to put their ball squarely in Altivec's court. If Motorola had shipped the G4 when they were originally supposed to, Apple would now be sitting well atop the PC performance charts, particularly in Photoshop, Premiere, Director etc. Instead, they're struggling to maintain a slim margin over the Intel 550MHz Pentium IIIs and now the AMD K7s. Let's not even mention multiprocessor systems! :(
