Ted is a product of the safe parts of the country. While his responses might be interesting, they are, at most, interesting. He doesn't understand why Houston, and to a greater extent, Arkansas, would respond to the evacuees from Louisiana like we did. The residents of these areas do understand, our ancestors are the ones that survived. It is built into our genes. We don't identify with Bambi, we identify with Godzilla. We descend from those who had to fight to the death with those who struggled against our environment. Our ancestors didn't coexist. They won.

And that is the ultimate bottom line.
