Bush is giving Iraq an opportunity to govern themselves.

I think that Bush is giving the Iraqis a chance to govern themselves in the likeness of the US. I think the majority of Iraqis would prefer to govern themselves in the likeness of Iran.

But now that Saddam is gone...we could hand it over to them now and actually let them govern themselves. Why don't we do that?

I know the elections are coming up soon...then they will govern themselves. Will we leave then? Probably not. When will we be able to pull troops out and let Iraqis govern themselves. So long as troops are in the country...we govern the Iraqis.

So Bush will actually be giving the Iraqis a chance to govern themselves when we pull out. I'll bet that in four years...we'll still be occupying Iraq.
