Interesting Rush comment on Dean's money

When's the John F-ing Kerry Inaugural?

January 28, 2004

As the pundits regurgitate the same, tired, DNC-fax-copied talking points, I want you to remember the expert political analysis you'll hear in the audio link below. Those of you who think Howard Dean is finished, think again. He has $40 million to keep him around. The Democrat candidates must now shift to multi-state primaries. The days of them all being clustered in one state are over. This changes the dynamic.

The Democrats seem to anoint Kerry, but it's too early to do that. Joe Lieberman considered dropping out, then invented something called "suspending" his campaign, and finally decided he's going to keep running in case the Democrats decide they want someone good. Wesley Clark's sock puppet campaign continues despite clearly being out of its league. Next up, we have South Carolina - which brings us to millionaire trial lawyer Johnny "the Breck Girl" Edwards who's leading there. Here are a few things to remember:

#1 - Ronald Reagan lost Iowa and New Hampshire in the 1980 primaries. #2 - New Hampshire only awarded 22 delegates last night. (The state has five superdelegates to go.) #3 - A candidate needs 2,162 to secure the nomination. #4 - The media wants a close race, and as Jim Pinkerton writes in Newsday, they don't like Kerry. So look for more stories taking shots at Kerry, building up the also-rans and second-place finishers, etcetera. That's already happening, with this flap over Kerry's newfound youth.

Of course I found Rush is fast and loose with his facts as always. Reagan won in New Hampshire in 1980. Here is one of many links proving it. politicallibrary.org

So does Dean really have 30M to spend? Not sure. Either way, if Kerry is to win, he must not isolate the Dean supporters. Perot shows what splitting the sympathies does to a contestant.

There is so much misinformation on candidates, a diligent voter best check out an outrageous fact ala an IVAN stockholder.
