Z, Well, we're not going to start running out of oil for 30 years, so let's regulate the prices a bit... oil companies are making a hell of a lot of profit. Then, let's give tax incentives to American companies to make more fuel-efficient technologies and tax incentives to consumers to purchase them.

We already have a gas-guzzler tax, but that may need to be adjusted:

As for regulating the price of oil, those who are doing the regulating really ought to know exactly what they're doing. Otherwise, the Law of Unintended Consequences will start creeping in like it did for the California energy crisis (although their problems arose from deregulation done the wrong way).
