Quallaby Ships Service Level Management Solution for Service Providers

March 2, 1999

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)
PROVISO product line provides Service
Providers Analysis and Reporting Software for
Differentiated Services

Quallaby Corporation, a global provider of
network and service management software,
today announced the availability of
PROVISO(TM) 1.0, a Service Level
Management (SLM) solution that allows
Service Providers to dynamically tailor SLA's
to their customers changing requirements.
PROVISO's shipping comes on the heels of
the recently announced OEM agreement with
CrossKeys Corporation (see release dated
January 21, 1999).

To compete effectively in today's rapidly
expanding world of communications
networks, Service Providers must quickly
differentiate their service offerings. IP-based
services like Web, Voice over IP, Extranets
and Managed Network Services are creating
new business opportunities and driving more
advanced service requirements. With
PROVISO Service Providers have an optimized
tool that can facilitate their ability to offer
and deploy these new service offerings.

"Deregulation is fueling the emergence of
new Service Provider competitors and driving
down service prices." said Tom Axbey, vice
president of marketing and business
development for Quallaby. "Telcos and
Network Service Providers understand that
to compete and satisfy customer demands, a
flexible SLM solution is required. PROVISO
helps Service Providers articulate the value
of new IP-based services to their customers
and allows them to continue to deploy the
competitive services that yield higher
margins.

CrossKeys was so impressed with Quallaby's
PROVISO 1.0, that the company recently
entered into a strategic, multi-year OEM
agreement in January. " Having analyzed
comparable products in the marketplace, we
found that only Quallaby PROVISO had the
flexibility and scalability necessary to address
IP-based service level management," says
John Selwyn, president and CEO of
CrossKeys.

PROVISO supports both traditional services
(Frame Relay and ATM), and new IP services
(VoIP, VPN, VLAN, Internet based messaging,
Convergence) and allows carriers and service
providers to create business-driven SLAs
based on any number of factors including:
availability, throughput, latency and
utilization.

The PROVISO Product Line is a modular set
of products designed to map to the business
objectives of Service Providers and their
customers. The components are PROVISO
Manager, PROVISO Report and PROVISO
Library.

PROVISO Manager is the server in a
distributed PROVISO deployment. PROVISO
Manager provides device discovery, data
collection and relational database storage
services. Configurable element grouping
features provide users the ability to collect
data and generate reports, real-time or
scheduled, in any way they choose using any
number of PROVISO Report clients.

PROVISO Report is the client in a distributed
PROVISO deployment. PROVISO Report
provides the user interface for configuring
and running reporting functions based on
data retrieved from multiple PROVISO
Managers. PROVISO Report can generate
ad-hoc reports or be scheduled to generate
reports automatically and store them as files
or push them to a Service Providers' own
Web server.

PROVISO Library is a complete package of
customizable reports optimized for particular
service offerings. These Service Level
Management (SLM) Packs, available for ATM,
WAN, LAN, Access, Convergence, Server and
Security services, offer Service Providers
complete tools right out-of-the-box for
quickly generating reports. All the reports in
each SLM Pack can be customized to fully
articulate the value of IP services to its
customers, network operations as well as
Service Provider sales and marketing
executives.
