Yes in the short term the RBOC's very well could. Depending on the further advancement of ADSL technology(how much more they can boost the lines MBPS). Cable is faster BUT when you have one pipe coming in and eventually a whole neighborhood will be on the same pipe reducing the speed and effectiveness. ADSL is a Private line from your house to the Local CO, no one sharing. I have ADSl and love it. Even though I am long T, I would not want cable service for the short term. My loacal RBOC pac-Bell is really on top of it so......I think looking down the road Cable ISP service can be for the MASSES, but for the short term 1- years DSL is a very good choice, if you are in the service areas. Just my views.
