Ren was proving that the showcase communist company with capitalist management can win and it is the way to China to move ahead. That put him and Huawei in direct conflict with Communist party managed SOEs hellbent on building buildings and roads and other infrastructure and One Belt One Road. The Communist party managed SOEs have never swallowed the bitter pill of seeing a communist company with capitalist management wining and succeeding, in China and abroad. Ren knows that Communist party managed SOEs want to prove that company with capitalist management CANNOT win.
