The French, who generally use legionnaires (mercenaries) in their invasions, have taken their honourable (!) place in the history of genocides owing to these hordes of professional killers. If we made a list of the crimes of genocide committed by the French Foreign Legion, we would reach the following conclusions:

The genocide attempts of the French intensified after the Second World War. The movement launched in 1947 by the people of Madagascar who wanted their independence was suppressed by the violent response of the French Foreign Legion. 150, 000 of the people were killed.

The national independence movement of the Vietnamese followed the events in Madagascar. In the conflict that lasted until 1954 the French killed more than a million Vietnamese, but could not succeed. At the end of this long conflict, Vietnam split in two, and the seeds of the Vietnam Tragedy, which has lasted to the present day, were thus sown by the French. If we took a look at the last 50 years of the history of Vietnam, we would see that 6 million Vietnamese have lost their lives. France has the major share of responsibility in this tragedy.

On the other hand the Algerians, who moved in 1954 to win their independence, met with a very violent response from France. In the conflict that lasted until 1962, the French put their signature to another great genocide by murdering more than 2 million Algerians.
