Agree with what C4T said...Tulving is very reliable, and his costs are either the best available or very close to it. Unless you're knowledgeable about 'em, or like coin collecting, I'd avoid the numismatic aspect and stick with the major modern bullion coins and the 1 oz size. You get more gold for your money that way. Krugerrands, Maple Leafs, Gold Eagles, Austrian Philharmonics and Chinese Pandas all contain 1 oz of gold in the 1 oz size. Maples, Phils and Pandas are pure 24 kt gold. Krugerrands and Eagles are 22kt, Krugs are alloyed with copper and Eagles are alloyed with a silver-copper mix. They are therefore harder and avoid deformation, scratching, etc a bit better than the others. Frankly, I like buying the most gold for my money and Krugerrands usually trade at the lowest premium to the price of gold, so I own more Krugerrands than the others, but that's just me. The Maples are awfully pretty, with a deep almost iridescent glow to them. From what I understand, the market to sell 'em is deepest with Eagles, then Maples, then Krugerrands (of course, if gold goes to where most of us think it's going, I doubt it'll be a problem to sell any of 'em).

A couple of useful web sites:

Tulving:
tulving.com

Certified Mint (I've never bought from 'em, but its an interesting site w/useful info):
certifiedmint.com

Ebay sometimes has decent deals...one dealer I like there is bulliondirect.com, when the price is right (there own web site usually has prices that are not as competitive).
