Corporate greed remains rampant in America today. That is one of the reasons why the S&P 500 has remained in a funk the past two years. In all too many cases, money that used to grow corporations instead got siphoned off by the privileged few.

Some money got siphoned off but that is not the reason for the bear market. You take a few thousand from a company that is making millions or a few millions from a company making billions and things don't crash. A lot of what you call siphoning is really just large salaries and stock options and even they aren't enough to crash most of these companies or the market as a whole. The actual siphoning (fraud and illegal activities to get money) was on a much smaller scale.
