Hillary does AIPAC

Power Line

Heather Robinson reports and comments on Hillary Clinton's speech at an AIPAC dinner last night: "Ms. Clinton is no liberal fool, she just thinks WE are." Senator Clinton is apparently a partisan of the higher wisdom of the Iraq Study Group in dealing with Iran. Senator Clinton promoted the magical powers of talk backed by a vague threat of options on the table, i.e., more talk. Robinson finds that Senator Clinton's audience was buying it:

<<< Hillary says she is a staunch supporter of Israel, yet tonight she tried to sell America's most diehard Israel-supporters on the idea of diplomacy with Iran, a country whose stated objective is Israel's destruction. The amazing and chilling thing is, many if not most of those in attendance at the dinner tonight seemed to buy it, or at least to be lulled enough by her rhetoric about the need to "stand by Israel" to miss the dangerous illogic here. >>>

Robinson quotes the comment of one member of the audience who bought Senator Clinton's speech:

<<< "It was thoughtful, introspective, almost as if she was reaching out and including us in her thinking process," one woman told me after the dinner. "She was almost pleading with this group of people to consider different options, more strategic, intelligent, smart solutions." >>>

On the other hand, Maggie Haberman reports in today's New York Post that Hillary did not go down smoothly before the AIPAC crowd: "Israel fans groan over Hill speech." And in today's New York Sun, Youssef Ibrahim sketches out what shape events would take if we give war a chance: "Imagining a war with Iran."
