Similarly, Obama is also perceived to be a lightweight (and way more so than Bush pere), and he has even more political/cultural left-wing baggage than Dukakis (but without the executive experience). So it would be a mistake for him to select a strong, experienced running mate, who would only remind voters of Obama's own inadequacies.


There is some truth to this logic. I suspect that Obama will try to choose someone who is regarded as equal to him, like Bill Clinton did, more experience probably but not enough to show up Obama's inexperience.
