Rats jumping ship in Illinois or just part of normal turnover? There has been talk of the Governor & his wife being indicted at some point....wheels of justice may turn slow enough to allow The Thin Man to get elected before the Rezko taint is totally known......imagine that, a democrat president with a financial cloud over him.

SPRINGFIELD — One of Gov. Rod Blagojevich's top advisers is quitting her $135,000-a-year post with the administration at the end of the week without lining up a new job, and it's possible several other high-ranking staff members of the embattled governor will leave this summer.

Deputy Gov. Sheila Nix insisted Monday her departure has nothing to do with the ongoing federal investigation of Blagojevich or the recent conviction of Antoin "Tony" Rezko, a key Blagojevich insider found guilty of using his political clout to shake down millions of dollars from companies seeking state business.

Nix said she is leaving because she is tired of the grueling work schedule that comes with the job and wants to spend more time with her husband and three children.

Nix worked on health-care issues in Washington before coming back to Illinois to work for Blagojevich as a senior adviser in 2004.

She said she is frustrated by lawmakers' efforts to block the governor's plans to expand medical access for the poor.

The announcement comes a week after the departure of Deputy Communications Director Rebecca Rausch, who spent four years as the governor's top representative in Springfield. Rausch quit May 31 to join a public relations firm in St. Louis.

Nix said other key staff members may leave this summer. Nix will be replaced by Bob Greenlee, previously deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget
