Yes, it looks that way.....I had only scanned the "article" when I posted the URL, and what was interesting at first was a few (accurate, imho) historical facts about Munk and Clairtone......a few others as well.....I'm much less impressed now having scanned down to the conclusions.....pretty shakey.....
Sounds like a good read, that book, Amazon has it; amazon.com
The reviews on that page seem mixed on the question of whether Posner added to or detracted from the sum of human knowledge/confusion. To be expected?.......
I hear you about "heaps of garbage".....some of that trash back there is mine......we value highly the freedom to post here, and then plug up the lines with crap.......Each post seemed a good idea at the time, though, just like yours and mine now.......
"Exchanging ideas in the hope that we may learn a little"......Most of us here came to learn......and we do learn, imho....at least we have exposure to many points of view from individual investors through market pros to company management.......there's certainly opportunity to learn much in a general sense about the investment industry.....It is possible to wander around this forum and compare several thousand threads about several thousand companies, and in so doing to form a structure for a method of critical analysis useful when considering a position.......Not to mention up-to-date information on most popular stocks....
Yes, you have to wade through "heaps of garbage", but you just have to learn to scan fast, that's all, and to learn whose posts to skip......and then one day, you'll come across one of your old posts and wonder why you said what you said, or why you said it in the way you did, and then you will know you have met the enemy, and he is us.......<g>....... |
