Nortel wins $1 bln Bell Atlantic deal
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., April 8 (Reuters) - The Canadian telecommunications equipment provider Nortel Networks (Toronto:NTL.TO - news) said Thursday it had agreed to supply up to $1 billion of equipment to Bell Atlantic Corp. over the next three to five years.

Under two contracts, Nortel will supply about 50 percent of the next-generation digital loop carrier equipment purchases Bell Atlantic expects to make through 2004, as well as current and future DMS hardware and software.
