We would disagree on that. My Grandmother had to spend 3 years in an orphanage in the early 1900's, as her Mother was gone, and her father had to work to support the 5 children. There had been 6 kids, but one died young of diphtheria.
The orphanage experience effected her for all of her 90-some years...

Going to a home where she received loving care by foster parents who worked (out of the house) on their farm every day was a much better environment for her.

Except for the fact that she and her siblings were never to be united under one roof again in their lives, except for occasional visits.

Frankly, I see no difference between out of the home in an office today working, versus out of the home working on the farm every day, as far as parenting is concerned.
