Brian,

Your points are well stated, but I still disagree with a couple of them:

1) Although Apple's market share may be declining, the total MacOS market share has been rising for the past few months. If it continues to rise, developers will take notice.

2) As far as having the latest version, it depends on what business you're in. In the graphics and desktop/internet publishing industries, software companies release Mac/Win upgrades concurrently. With regards to MS Office software, I'm not even sure Windows users are upgrading. I've heard little good said of Office 97. MSFT thrives on upgrade fever, stuff the consumer doesn't need or want but feel they must have or else...
