Perhaps regional differences could account for it. Where I live and work, opinions seem to be even more favorable to the President than the polls indicate.

I think it's a safe bet that investors statistically tend toward the conservative side. As for the surveys being flawed, bear in mind that they were apparently confirmed by the fact that the Republicans lost seats in the recent election, when they were expecting to gain seats.

In any case, the market certainly doesn't seem to be worried about the outcome. I think Bob is right in saying that investors don't think that a President Gore will affect the markets one way or the other.
