I agree with Whoopi, Clarence Thomas is not African-American, he is American-American who happens to be black. His grandfather, I believe, was also black and colored as well.
Now Bama, I think he has a true African father and a white mama, it's not clear if she's American (but her parents apparently were/are, maybe you can moped over and ask them?), so he might be like milk chocolate, a tasty mix of white milk and black cocoa, to paraphrase the Savior of New Orleans(SoNO), Mayor Naggins (wasn't he also in the "Lord of the Rings-Trilogy"?)
PS: I just check the clock and you might want to wait til the world turns a little bit before you go roaring up to the Bama' grandfolks bungalow, seeing as how it might still be dark over there in O-Wahoo, also island folks like to sleep in after a long weekend.
