Have you read any of the sagas?

I'm trying now to get a handle on King Olaf (Olav). So he went into battle as a 12 year old Viking. Shortly thereafter converting to Christianity. As a Christian King he then beheaded those who would not convert. Was defeated at the Thing (law proceeding), ran off to Russia before returning and being defeated again, this time in battle. Killed actually. He had one son Magnus the Good who did manage to rule Norway starting when he was 11 years old - and a bit later Norway and Denmark together before dying at age 24. His son was an illegitimate child conceived with his wife's thrall (slave). .......So his only accomplishment I see is to behead pagans and sleep with his wife's slave. ..........What became of him? He was annotated with Sainthood!!! It's all in the marketing isn't it?

Ever hear of the St Olaf choir?
