legalization is a no-win position now.

One more last (for now?) remark on this subject. The larger question is - Does a community have the right to restrain individuals or groups from doing something it perceives as undesirable or a threat? Organized societies - and they are always organized - always claimed this right. In one not pretty archetypal example, Athenians executed great Socrates for "messing" with young people's minds and dissing the Gods.

As related to drug control, talking about modern (and future) technologies opening a veritable Terra Incognita of potentially uncontrollable dangers is a variation of the old Reductio ad Absurdum argument (Man, it's been a long time since I managed to use two Latin expressions in one sentence.... -g). However, I think it is a valid argument. It's not hard to imagine many of the best and brightest scientific (and marketing) minds getting to work at developing new "revolutionary" mind-modifying products and modalities -- all of them legal.

Where it would lead - no one knows. But it is obvious that possibilities would be endless, and it could take humanity on a trip with no return. Therefore, drawing a line *somewhere* may clearly become a matter of survival. And if having such a line is unavoidable, why not just leave it more or less where it is today, with "reasonable" modifications?
