My broker satisfied 3k shares (borrowed in multiples of 1K) one day and a multiple of that many over several weeks. I have not once been denied borrowing GUMM shares (during the recent decline was the only time I was ever interested).

The purpose of shorting to protect a long position (or going long with a short position) during declines is not unique to Hank or myself and made the decline far more palatable albeit still disturbing. At the greatest point of my hedge it was only 40% of the position.

It is not my intent to argue with anyone whether or not this was done (I couldn't care less what Hank believes) only to respond why the short position may have grown a little. If this explains the increased short position it would also argue for additional upward momentum should a rally take place.
