Huge blow to Israel's military's reputation. Wonder what made them think they could pull this off. My guess is it's some specific cultural and geographical and historical form of hubris. I assumed, because of my reading, and I assume they assumed, that their intelligence was near perfect, that Arab armies always folded, that their training and technology was so superior it could not be resisted. Clearly the Hezbollah leadership had been preparing for a long time for this one.
