Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is a fine woman. But she's an untested, unvetted first-term governor who's making plenty of rookie mistakes. Right now she has her hands full with a writhing snake-pit of problems in the Alaska natural gas pipeline, a huge energy project which needs years of dedicated leadership. Plus she has a newborn baby with Down Syndrome.

Let's face it: McCain is an old geezer who might not make it thru his first term. He should choose an experienced running mate of national caliber who is fully prepared to take over the job if needed.
