Let me tell you what 1 million ongoing auctions per week means for eBay:

It means $1.3M to $1.5M in weekly sales, since eBay averages between $1.30 and $1.50 in fees and commissions per auction.

The number of ongoing auctions per week on eBay is THE barometer for measuring how well (or poorly) eBay is doing.

And, YES, people are bidding on these auctions. Why don't you go to the site and take a look at auctions expiring in the next 3 hours, and you'll see that most items have been bid on, some many times.

Is eBay worth $5B? Not in my book, but I don't determine the stock price.
