USDA says Iowa's crop will be down 17%. 17% hasn't been planted and 20% of what has been planted is under water. Little more news, late plantings won't form a canopy to keep the sun from the soil and will pollinate late and that isn't good. Ok, we get the switch to beans on the flooded ground because they can be planted later. This late and you get 1/2 a crop. Beans don't like wet feet and they're talking about planting them in flooded ground. Duh. Ok, I have a partial solution, run the semi trucks on used cooking oil. Mileage is down 10% and they are harder to stary when cold but they never get shut down. Something we toss out can be used to run semi trucks for the cost of a filter. <<I wonder what their per gallon production cost is at 6-8 dollar corn.....glad my money is not tied up in any of it.>> My money is, on the corn production side.
