Welcome Back Kash and bacchus

The good news for AMD is only on the graphics front. NVDIA is fumbling and reading the NVDIA conference call was ironic:

Interesting to see NVDIA fumble on several issues simultaneously. A year ago NVDIA was in high gear and ATI/AMD was sputtering, and today the roles are reversed. There are major execution missteps. Reliability problems leading to major warranty expenses, and excess inventory/capacity of 65nm products. Worse ATI has stolen the performance lead as well. Misery loves company !

For AMD a manna from heaven ! But not enough, since the CPU business is still sputtering with no end in sight.

Both NVDIA and ATI are hurting because of the sudden popularity of low end Laptops, which tend to use Intel's integrated Graphics. Intel took a hit on the ASP, but had much higher revenues in Q2 due to the sudden surge of low end Laptops. Nettops will only worsen the situation for ATI and NVDIA in the coming months.
