Nothing amoral about shorting.
Nothing amoral about going to the thread of the stock you just shorted and pointing out some weaknesses of the stock - points referring to lack of cash, excess debt, inexperience of management, poor business plan, uncontrolled marketing expenses etc.

But when you turn up on the thread of the stock and insinuate that the directors are involved in criminal activities and will not support your insinuations.

That's amoral. Or do you consider smear campaigns a part of the shorter's armoury?
