Steve, what you say is true. If Jesus had died in the electric chair we might be wearing little 14 kt gold electric chairs around our necks. However, what I meant goes a little further. If you were given the choice, How would you prefer to die, in a cross or by lethal injection? It seems to me that you would probaly choose lethal injection, because there is less suffering involved. What about if it was your son who was going to be excecuted; you would probably choose lethal injection also. God the Father, however, sent his son to die for us at the cross. Aside from the need of fulfilling Bible prophecy, I believe there is a very deep teaching in that, to wit: No earthly suffering can be compared to the joy waiting for us in Heaven, thus God allowed his son to die in a cruel way to teach us that we should not be concerned with our temporary suffering here on Earth.
