MEXICO CITY (Dow Jones)--U.S. Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers showed
little concern Tuesday about the fundamental strength of the U.S. economy,
despite recent remarks by members of the incoming Republican presidential team
of George W. Bush about the increasing chance of a recession emerging.
Addressing reporters during a visit to Mexico, Summers said a triumvirate of
factors that have powered the U.S. economy to its longest period of prosperity -
productivity growth through the use of technology, fiscal discipline and a
healthy financial system - remain sound despite signs the overall economy is
finally cooling.
"Some deceleration of growth was almost certainly inevitable following the
rapid growth in the first half of this year, and that is occurring," Summers
said.

Gonna turn this thing off now....Good night all!
