They aren't really lectures. I wouldn't want to be lectured at, even about Buddhism, so it wouldn't feel right to lecture others. And some prisoners have even less of an attention span than I do, so it's a good thing to ask questions or get their comments, too. I have also included some sort of meditation with each session, because I can talk all I want about Buddhism, but actually experiencing it is worth lots more than anything I can say about it. The great thing about meditation is that even these prisoners can meditate to gain knowledge and wisdom on their own, without needing to defer to external authority. This is especially important for people that are often degraded in various ways by the prison administration.
