Petz,

"Given the poor infrastructure support from VIA, I don't think Sanders should continue the "great support from our partners" BS."

Our good friend VIA decided to develop not only its integrated mobo but also its DDR solution for the P III first - despite the fact that on the Pentium III bus the additional bandwidth of DDR DRAM can hardly be used. Now this choice seems to backfire.

How great would be VIA's position if they had supported the Athlon in the first place! But no, they went with the dead meat (TM Sanders). And the result??? See anandtech.com

The VIA Apollo Pro 266 performs miserably compared to the i815. Despite using DDR DRAM it is slightly behind in most applications. Who will buy an Apollo Pro 266 board with expensive DDR DRAM if
- the i815 with cheap PC 133 SDRAM beats it in most benchmarks and
- the Athlon is the better solution anyway?

Now everyone will go with the AMD 760. The KT266 is way late.

(Well, at least there is the KT 133A, VIA's only savior.)

Peter
