National debt, (left over from World War II and Korean War expenditures), YES.

But ANNUAL FEDERAL DEFICITS (spending *more* then the government takes in in revenues, creating ADDITIONAL DEBTS), NO... there were not annual deficits.

(You should be aware of the difference, TopCat....)
