Usually, I "get" his humor with no problem....but teasing about "think like white" or "Uncle Tom" is just not funny to me. The US has gone though WAY too much since the 60's and all the violence of those years, plus earlier times where black and poor people were teased, put down in so many ways, injured and/or maimed, and even killed...so things like that just aren't funny to me.
I wasn't born when so much of it happened, but did live through years where our society had race riots, mandatory bussing to schools out of the neighborhood, black and white drinking fountains and entry ways to buildings, and all the other misc mayhem. Think Rodney King. Our society had turned upside down, because some of the do-gooders tried to make things "right" on an outrageous situation.
A criminal is a criminal no matter what color or creed someone is, no matter what excuses he/she/or his attorney make up. A criminal should pay for the crime, no matter color, etc....
And now, today, to counter all those wrongs of yesteryear, the Left including Obama demand (not discuss or wish, but DEMAND) that no one talk about so many things. Many of the Left feel guilty for all the years gone by, and insist that we can't talk about politics, religion, color of skin, background, friends, business co-workers, what politicians have done for society, and all of those etcs.....
All of this solves nothing. Most people don't even know our Country's History well enough to even discuss any part of it. Many of those same people don't even know what other people before them had to do for those of us of today to be able to breathe fresh air, drink clean water, work, or to vote and live in peace.
Sorry....rant over and off my soapbox. I think MQ is terrific....but even if I didn't put it as well as he would, the above is why I took offense. |
