Last night I installed the new Intel device driver from the Microsoft Windows Update site. I thought that everything went smoothly and my system seemed to operate properly.

This morning when I booted my system, I noticed that neither my CD (DVD) drive nor my Castlewood Orb drive was recognized. When I look at the device manager under "My Computer / Properties", there are exclamation points displayed for "Primary Ultra ATA controller" and "Secondary Ultra ATA controller". I am running Windows 98SE.

I have to leave for work and won't be able to track down these problems down until tomorrow, but was wondering if anyone else is experiencing these problems.

B.K.
