Global Crossing's Dilemma -From Upside

Here is a little blurb from Upside.

Executive Briefing
October 11, 1999
by Sylvia Carr and Tish Williams

Get-Rich Tip: Choose your partners wisely. Suddenly, the pursuer is pursued, as rumors swirled late Friday that Deutsche Telekom was running after Global Crossing, a fiber-optic network builder. Global Crossing (GBLX) turned heads when, as a simple transoceanic cable company, it attempted to acquire both Frontier and US West in multibillion-dollar deals. It ended up capturing only Frontier, but with ex-AT&T/Teleport headliner Bob Annunziata at its helm, it still had a golden future ahead. Now that Deutsche Telekom is in the picture, Annunziata has a big decision to make. Deutsche Telekom's size and strength are unquestioned, but it's been losing out in a lot of acquisition attempts. Would Global be joining a winning team? upside.com
