In a paper with the NYT's reputation as being the "best" in the US, they can't afford to have many, if any, major mistakes. Unfortunately, they have had way too many in the last few years.
And honestly, they would be smart to have some folks who write opinions that those with a more conservative mind could appreciate as well. Otherwise, they cut out 50% of their potential readership, and not only their circulation is down, but advertising is as well.
They of course, are not the only paper in the country where that is happening. If they WANT to be a liberal only paper, then they can do so, and people wouldn't be so upset, I don't think. Most of us expect our media to be as unbiased as possible.
FOX is openly 'right', but they also have some flaming liberals on to get their opinion out as well. Don't see that much if at all from the majority of print media.
