Dave-- I agree Alta is a well run gold co., as well as any in the current market. However, retiring some debt early and using that as a basis to show a gain is a real stretch of the accounting rules. They have also given up the keys to the kingdom to get the last loan from Gerald Metals. I suggest you go through the last 3 or 4 SEC filings very carefully.
I was buying Alta back when they had a "banking" problem with Mace/Westpak and everyone thought they were doomed. You could buy all you wanted at under a buck.
And Dave, when gold rebounds, the whole sector will explode.
