Actually I like him in charge with a minority... this coalition thing threw a wrench in that... I really wonder how long that was in the works.. I mean a 'signing ceremony' geez.. Then again Harper took the shot at funding and maybe that's the only reason for the coalition.. In that case I still don't agree with them but I dunno if I would have done differently :O) Wasn't our political funding just changed a few years back.. (some say Chretien's last shot at Martin ;O)

As he prepared to step down as prime minister in 2003, Jean Chrétien was preoccupied with polishing his place in history. However, figures released yesterday suggest one of his legacy initiatives -- political financing reform -- haunts his party.

Election Canada returns show the Liberals raised $912,000 in April, May and June from 9,556 contributors, but that paled beside the $3.5 million the Conservative party raised from 33,833 individual donors.

The new numbers show the Liberals are still struggling with the rules Mr. Chrétien pushed through Parliament: notably the ban on corporate donations, which formerly provided half or more of operating funds.

Again our Liberals seem to be he party of big business... Quite a conundrum.
