Rick, To understand the atheist creed (to the limited extent to which there is one) you need to grasp the fundamental difference between "I believe there is no God" and "there is no God". The atheist creed (as I see it, at least) can be summed up in a few words: "There are things that cannot be known, and I'm not going to waste my time trying to convince myself or others that I know them". Hence Pope: Presume upon thyself not God to scan The proper study of mankind is man I can discuss and respect any statement of religious intent, if it is prefaced with "I believe". The moment people start with "I know", my natural impulse is one of derision, which I try - often unsuccessfully - to keep to myself. Steve
