He would need more than raising the retirement age to pay for that.

I think if we could raise it one year every five years for the next twenty five years, a good chunk of the problem would be solved.

Another factor never mentioned is that Congress now guarantees private pension systems. at a multi-billion dollar cost to the rest of us. I have no doubt that Congress would "make good" any shortfall in a privatized SS system.
