That's why I said its simpler.

But the effort, whether you succeed or fail is much less than the effort against a powerful nation, so I'm not sure I'd say its easier. To win WWII we had an army maybe 10 times as big as we have now with less than half the population. Nothing we do against Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, and their ilk, is going to cause us to build an army over twenty times as large as our army today.

Again, very problematic with AQ since we can't invade the Pakistani tribal homelands.

If we were treating this like we were treated WWII, or as something even bigger and more difficult, we could invade Pakistani tribal homelands. Not that I think we should (either treat it like WWII or invade Pakistan, both would be major mistakes)
