I think global warming has already washed over us. What the scientist's need to study is how much and how bad the damage looks to be going forward and how bad the feed back loops are going to be under myriad scenarios.

And then work out plans to address each potential level. I am sure that is exactly what the scientist's know and are trying to do; or would like to do, if the pubs would be willing to fund them.

The global warming scientist's have a zillion theories they want to explore, but the brain dead pubs will not fund them. We need to fund them big time.

Much harder to figure how far we have gone past the tipping point and how feed back loops will affect future GW than just thinking we can solve it in 50 years with some sort of actions.

In fact pretending we can actually do something is something we must do, but I am not so sure we are not too far past the point of no return already.
