Clinton was talking about paying off the national debt. There were certainly funny numbers in there but even Greenspan was concerned about what would happen should the US Government no longer issue Treasury notes. What an idea. We could then invest in things like infrastructure, energy, small business, universal health care. We could even send a man to Mars. Hey, whatever happened to Bush's Mars initiative?
