The nCipher press release states that they are providing HP with a cryptographic accelerator for the server end, particularly for banks, financial institutions and e-commerce sites.

HP is apparently speaking with Wave about adoption of the Wave chip as a low-cost encryption devise for the PC client end. HP's e-commerce security initiative, endorsed by most of the industry, would likely include different cryptographic hardware and software solutions at different price levels depending upon the specific needs of the buyer. If the Wave chip were to be adopted by HP then it would presumably be implemented across the board for all types of e-commerce. At around $3 apiece, it would probably become a general or standard solution for the PC end, whereas more expensive devises for the server might vary according to the particular needs of the buyer's business.
