Thanks for the clue on certificates. As you can probably tell, I'm here on this site to discern the difference in postings on other sites from "Gee whiz" technos and their excitement over new technological developments --- and the marketing possibilities in the real world from those same developments (marketing being my background, definitely not technology) Thus, I post the following from CBS Marketwatch today:

"VeriSign (VRSN) will add e-commerce sites and Web portals to its digital certificates as Web business moves from publishing to commerce, Stratton Sclavos, chief executive officer of the company said. The company currently has deals with about half a dozen e-commerce sites, and its shares jumped last week after inking a deal with Netscape. Digital certificates allow users to verify online identities. Additionally, Sclavos said he sees international revenue eventually
making up 50 percent of the company's total sales, up from just 15 percent currently."

Somehow I get the feeling that Digital Me works from the consumer POV and these certificates work from the seller's POV. Close?

PS: Verisign and its ilk may, however, be able to lock in a POV before Digital Me gets off the ground!
